My Story

HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email [email protected]. --- - Came from a situation where he did not get the socialization and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age; has been doing very well in his foster home but still may struggle with new situations and things - Big, fluffy teddy bear of a dog who loves pets and attention and will ask for it by pushing his head into your hands; also loves it when you hold his paw - Loves chew toys and is excellent at shredding stuffed toys; also likes being outside and in the snow with his people - A goofball who doesn't realize his size and may forget to watch out for people and things when he's running and playing - Knows sit and shake - especially for treats - Has done well with housetraining in his foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule and routine - Is used to being in a kennel when his foster family is gone and has done well; at night, he sleeps through the night next to his foster family's bed - Has shown struggles with leash walking, indicating he may not have had much exposure to it; will need continued work on this in his new home and would benefit from a fenced yard - Loves the school-age kids in his foster home and frequently climbs into their laps for snuggles - Likes the small dogs in his foster home and would probably enjoy a playmate who is closer to his size All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age) The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
