My Story
Thank you for choosing to adopt or foster and aid in the rescue efforts of RARE!
**Adoption Interest Form REQUIRED via our website Rarerescue.org**
Meet Paige, an adorable and spunky Shih Tzu-Yorkie or Border Terrier mix (best guess, but she does shed) who’s around 1 to 1 1/2 years old and weighs 18 lbs. Paige is the perfect mix of cuddly and adventurous! She’s usually very quiet, only letting out a little whine in her crate if she knows you’re home. She’s house trained and crate trained, though she’s still learning not to chew on shoes, so crating her when you’re not home is a good idea for now.
Paige loves to snuggle in bed with her people and curl up on the couch for some cozy downtime. She’s playful with other dogs and can sometimes act like the boss, especially around bigger dogs, but she handles it all with confidence. Don’t be fooled by her small size—Paige isn’t afraid to get dirty! She loves outdoor adventures, chewing on sticks, and living life to the fullest.
If you’re looking for a fun-loving, adventurous pup who also loves to cuddle, Paige might be the perfect match! Complete an adoption application at rarerescue.org to see if Paige is the right fit for your family.
From Paige’s Foster family:
“Paige is a very happy girl. She’s got a lot of personality. She is equal parts play and cuddle. She is lightening fast when she has the zoomies and will tear through the house, making everyone laugh.
She brought out the pup in our senior dog. He has been wagging his tail and playing more than we’ve ever seen. They also enjoy snuggling together. They’ve never been tense towards one another.
She’s great with kids. She was never once impatient or nippy at our 2 year old. The two of them giggle and play. I think she’d love to be with a family.
She loves sticks, balls, and toys. She’s great for a long walk. We took her a few miles one day and she didn’t bat an eye. She is very much still a puppy in my eyes.
She would do best in a furniture friendly house, meaning she’s welcome on couches and beds. She very much wants to sleep on your bed at night and would require crate training if not.
She does bark when new people enter her space. She is housetrained. She had a couple of accidents in the house but that’s to be expected with a new environment. “

We understand that it is important to you to find the right fit for your family. We feel the same way! The DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM is important and REQUIRED for this reason.
All of our Adoptables are:
Spayed/neutered; Up to date on vaccines; Heartworm tested if six months or older (& kept on heartworm preventative and treated for heartworms if positive when entering our program): Microchipped prior to adoption
BREEDS: We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions.
PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption.
Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care. As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property.
***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
