My Story
Paris is available for adoption!
Paris is a beautiful little terrier mix puppy. She is a small dog at 11 pounds and about 6 months old. Remarkably, at her young age, she is reliably housebroken and has had no accidents at all. She eats well and enjoys small treats that we use with the training she requires to be a well behaved pup.
Paris sleeps all night in her crate with no problem. We suspect she would love to sleep in bed with her foster family, but that is for her forever family to decide!
At six months, she is just entering her "chewy" phase, and we are keeping a variety of soft chew toys and appropriate bones for entertainment and exercise. Occasionally, she will try to chew on a toss pillow or the end of something, but she is easily redirected to a soft chew toy or small bone. She isn't quite sure what to do with balls or toss toys, but that will come as she grows and becomes more confident.
Paris is still very skittish. Even after being with the foster family a few weeks, she still runs and hides under furniture, behind chairs, and in corners when they come into a room or there is an unexpected noise. She does come out a bit easier, but she has been scared by something in her young life and needs patience to build her confidence. Once she is near people, she loves being petted, and when settled, she will snuggle with the people who are around her all the time.
She just has her second set of shots and will be introduced to other dogs soon to see how she gets along with others. She might benefit from a quiet doggie pal to help her get over being so shy. Well behaved and quieter, older children should be fine, but young children would likely be too much for her to handle.
She hasn't barked yet, but occasionally whines if her foster parents aren't quick enough to get her out of her crate after a shopping trip or dinner out.
The foster family tells us Paris is one of the sweetest little fosters they have had the pleasure of helping and is very close to being a foster fail. However, being so young, they realize she will likely be around longer than they will be! She has a long life full of fun, play, and love ahead of her with a family willing to help her grow and to train her to be a best buddy.
She is spayed, chipped, and up to date on her vaccines. Since she is less than a year, she will need a training class to help her learn good behavior, especially on a leash!
