We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Patricio 12 months old, neutered male, lab/pit mix, 51 lbs. Patricio is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Patricio ended up at a crowded shelter before he'd even had his first birthday. Patricio loves hard and will gladly crawl into your lap for a good snuffle sesh. It’s clear from his drive-by snuggles and how he attempts to join every family he meets at the dog park that while he was found as a stray, he was well-loved in his prior life. He will make a fantastic addition to an active family who will enjoy doing activities with him. Patricio's foster family has 3 dogs with whom he enjoys endless hours of play. Wrestling and chase are his favorite games if he can entice one of the siblings to join. When the resident dogs are too tired or grouchy to play, he will happily entertain himself by finding a toy to chew on. All toys are chew toys to this silly boy! He’s been a very respectful boy of the house and hasn’t chewed on anything other than the things intended for him. While he hasn’t had many kids to play with at his foster home, he has engaged with some at the park. He is a lover of all humans, however his active play style is better suited for older kids who can understand puppy play. He has learned not to use humans for chew toys – however especially with kids, this will need to be reinforced in his new home. He is not a fan of cats. Patricio gets an A+++ for leash manners – he walks calmly with a loose leash, doesn’t pull, and doesn’t harass the squirrels, ducks, or even the swans he encounters! He calmly passes other dogs or humans on a walk. He is super smart, taking well to obedient classes. Knows his basic commands and walks on a leash. He loves to ride in the car. He crates well and never makes a sound at night. He is very food motivated, which makes him easier to train. Patricio happily hangs in his crate when he’s alone. Just a little treat as positive reinforcement to get him to go in and then he will have a nice snooze while you’re gone! Due to his foster’s schedule, he hasn’t been left for more than 4 hours but could easily work upward from that timeframe as he now understands crate=calm rest. Patricio is a very smart boy. He is fully potty trained and has quickly learned everything we’ve worked on! He is incredibly responsive to positive reinforcement with any sort of food. This all-around VERY GOOD BOY Patricio is going to make someone a very lucky dog parent – he’s full of love and fun, silly energy. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown.
