My Story
According to Wisdom Panel, Petunia's top breeds are American Staffordshire Terrier and Bulldog. She currently weighs 11 lbs, and her estimated adult weight is 33-55 lbs. She is short and solid muscle! Given her build and breed makeup, we scheduled her with Dr. Dean at Mustang Veterinary Surgical to rule out any health issues, particularly with her hips. Dr. Dean did not find anything abormal! Petunia is now available for adoption! We are now accepting applications. If you are interested in potentially giving her a forever home, please read the following in its entirety. Although this little girl is funny, snuggly, and adorable, she is not an easy puppy. Setting her up for future success involves adoption requirements that are different from a typical 4 1/2 month old puppy. Petunia must go to a home with an experienced dog owner, preferably someone who has experience with bully breeds and/or stubborn breeds. Even though there are tons of toys in her foster home, Petunia goes after anything she is not supposed to chew on.furniture, cords, clothes, the actual dryer - you name it, it is fair game! She is persistent and does not respond to redirection. Her foster mom has noticed that Petunia is getting better at responding to no. Her future adopter must be willing to invest in training, whether at home or professionally. She has her first training session tomorrow! We also will not place Petunia in a home with children under the age of 15. With her body structure (and the fact that she is squirmy), she can be hard to hold on to. One accidental drop could cause spinal issues or paralysis. Petunia would do well in a home with another dog, however, she may not be a good fit if you are looking for a playmate for your pup. We know that the above description is different from most puppies; however, we are always going to be honest with potential adopters and aim to place our dogs only in environments where they will thrive. Right now, her mischief may be cute since she's a puppy, but it wouldn't be so cute on a full grown dog. Petunia has the potential to be an amazing dog, but she is not the right fit for everyone. Petunia is kennel trained and sleeps through the night. She is working on potty training but still has a few accidents a day. If you are interested in adopting Petunia, please submit an application at www.rescuerowinc.org!

Rescue Row is a 501(c)3 (non-profit) all volunteer dog rescue organization serving the DFW Metroplex. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless dogs.
