My Story

happy young boy seeking fresh start and love! PICKLES NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Pickles Best Guess for Breed: Terrier and lab mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of January 2025 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 34 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living at: Rural shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get his freedom ride here on Saturday January 25. Pickles is Looking For: His forever home! Shelter staff love this boy. They say the vet estimated him to be about two years old but his happiness, his zest for life is more like that of a puppy. He loves loves other dogs and is always eager to play with them. Other aspects of his behavior shows he's got wisdom and experience in him: His default is Sit Learning recall - he comes when called Takes treats with a soft mouth. He likes cheese! Learns quickly! He's good at reading cues and picking up on training He likes to please his people and LOVES to play with other dogs. He's looking for a home where he gets his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up. Lots of playtime with other dogs - whether that is in dog parks, doggie daycare, or with a resident doggy sibling who also loves to play - is very high on his wish list. He apparently might not have had the best start in his life - staff noticed a very slight limp and got it checked. Turns out it was an old break - it's now healed and he's good to go! Pickles promises thumping tail wags, to make you smile, and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Is this happy boy the one for you?
