My Story

Meet Pistachio – The Tiny Nut with a Big Heart! If you’re looking for a little crack-up to keep life interesting, Pistachio is your guy! This 1-year-old, 20 lb Dachshund mix is a certified lowriding adventure machine—small in stature but extra in personality. Pistachio is built for speed, zoomies, and fun! Need a jogging buddy? He’s in. Want to play chase? He’s already halfway across the yard. Looking for a snuggle partner after all that action? He’ll burrow right into your lap like he owns the place (because, let’s be honest, he probably does). This little nut came into rescue with his sister, Hazelnut, and while he adores his doggy friends, he’s also happy to branch out and make new pals. He’s the kind of dog who turns playdates into parties and couch time into cuddle marathons. Pistachio is fully vetted—neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, and officially clear of any heartworm or tick-borne diseases. Basically, he’s ready to roll into your life, steal your heart, and maybe your spot on the bed (he’s persuasive like that). Are you ready to add a little nutty joy to your life? Pistachio is waiting! Want to meet him? Please fill out our application at azhartt.org/adopt Requirements include meeting everyone in the household, dog intros (if applicable), and a home check. Adoption applications are approved on a best-fit basis. We do not do out-of-state adoptions.
