My Story

Hi, I’m Pixie! I’m about a year old, 44 pounds, spayed, and HW negative. I’m house trained with only a few accidents. I LOVE other dogs, tennis balls, ice cubes, and snuggling. I think I’m a Lab mix because I have webbed feet and love water - especially playing bitey face with the hose! I can be wary of new people unless they bring a dog to vouch for them, or tasty treats. It’s not personal, I just had a rough start with over a month in the Caddo Parish shelter as a puppy and barely made it out - yikes! But once I trust you, I’m made of Velcro. If you have a long day and fall asleep on the couch, you won’t wake up alone - I’ll be right beside you keeping you warm! I ride perfectly in the car, I am eager to please, and I roam the house with my foster siblings without destroying things while the people are out! I do fuss if confined in an empty house, so it will take time and patience if you feel you have to crate me while you’re out (my fosters think it’s because of my time in the shelter). Alternatively, I LOVE doggy daycare. I LOVE walks and doing my best to learn good manners so I come with a no pull harness. I’m a smart girl and catch onto things quickly. You will be so impressed how well I learn your routines and my role in our family! If you have another dog that wants to play, I am the girl for the job! I promise to keep my dog sibling entertained and my people feeling safe and loved! This dog is ready for her forever home! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
