Meet Pochi! According to his foster family, Pochi is the sweetest puppy ever. He is so affectionate and friendly and isn't afraid to rain kisses upon everyone he meets. He's young so he's still discovering how the world works; for example, he doesn't know how to use stairs yet, but he's learning. He's very smart and a fast learner. It only took him one day to figure out how to sit! He is in the middle of potty training and he's getting better every day! He has been friendly with other dogs and loves to play. And he's very friendly with people!
Adopting a puppy is great fun, but puppies require a LOT of dedicated time for training and socialization, including exposure to many different situations. This means puppy classes, lots of daily exercise, playtime, attention, and ongoing training will be essential, as this dog will be energetic and playful for many years to come. Puppies can't be left unattended for more than a couple of hours at a time in the first several months. A household or guardian who is ready to take on the challenges of housetraining, grooming, and making sure their new family member becomes a well-adjusted canine citizen is necessary. Please do some research on bringing up puppies before submitting an application for adoption.
***Please also do some research into herding breeds and border collies to see if they may be the right fit for you- these beautiful and highly intelligent dogs have the need for exercise, both physical and mental!***
The Seattle Animal Shelter is committed to reducing length of stay for all of our shelter pets! Some pets qualify for FREE or reduced adoption fees, please inquire with our Animal Care team to learn more.
Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. This will include reviewing all known medical and behavior information.
** Please note that some animals will receive numerous inquiries, sometimes more than we can process. We appreciate your understanding and patience. **
HOW TO ADOPT: Check the animal's location.
