My Story

08/01/24 05:47 DOG DAY OUT NOTES FROM LAST WEEK: Today I: Met two new friends and took a long walk! It was a warm day, so I found cool spots to roll in the grass and relax along the way! I showed my new friends how I know how to sit and take treats super gently with my mouth. I even got to eat a Pup Cup at a park! On the way back to the shelter I took a little nap. Three Words to Describe Me are: Happy Loving - Active Notes from My Walker: Pongos shelter notes indicated that he can be reactive to other dogs, so we took him to an industrial park with lots of grass and trees, but no other dogs so that Pongo could relax and enjoy himself. He did great! He jumped into the car easily, was excited but sat nicely on the drive, and jumped out easily once we arrived. He pulled a bit at first, but after about 15 minutes, he calmed down and walked beautifully the rest of the morning. He noticed squirrels and lizards, but did not lunge or bark at them. We encountered workmen, tree trimmers, traffic and a few people walking, Pongo did not lunge or bark at any of them. The morning was warm, so when we got back to the car he was not anxious to get back in, but I spoke quietly with him and let him know I would pick him up and seatbelt him in. Once in the car, he found a cool spot and relaxed. We did stop for a Pup Cup and went to a park for him to enjoy it. After a short stay lounging under the trees, we got back into the car he jumped in easily this time! He then took a little nap and was very good when we returned him to the shelter. Pongo deserves a family who will give him daily, moderate exercise, ongoing training, and the love and support he needs to be his very best self! _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Today I took Pongo for a walk to Jeffrey Fontana Park. He was initially shy to get into the car, but with a couple of treats he jumped right in. He was well behaved throughout the ride. Once we got to the park, he unleashed his puppy energy and was hyper reactive to his surroundings(people, other dogs, squirrels etc). He is an extremely energetic dog with constant leash pulling. We walked around for 2 miles and had cut short the walk as it started raining. Three Words to Describe Me are: Energetic, Hyper, Reactive Notes from My Walker: Hes a highly reactive dog and may require lots of time and patience to train him.
