My Story

While we don't know much about Porter's beginning, what we do know is that he was let out of car in North Carolina. The people that did this sped away and they never looked back...He frantically ran after the car but was not able to keep up. His rescuer spent time talking to Porter once he realized he was not able to catch the vehicle, until he was able to slowly approach him. The poor dog was extremely underweight, hand shy and his tail was pulled under tightly. HIs rescuer is great with animals, and he was able to get him into the car. Porter's rescuer drove him up to New York in hopes of a better life. We have since learned that he loves car rides and does very well in them! He doesn't even mind riding in the back seat! He is a truly handsome, jet black & shiny guy now. He is great in the bathtub, with his favorite part being the towel drying. He is crated trained and enjoys having a towel to snuggle with. It seems like he prefers blankets to dog beds as he pushed it away when offered. Porter is great with other dogs and loves to play with the dog in his current home. His current place also has cats (4) and he wants to play with them. However they are not interested. He has been nose to nose with 3 out of four and he was a gentleman. He is approximately 5 years old, 60 lbs DNA Findings -Wisdom Panel - 88% Plotthound He has been neutered 12/5/24 Vaccinations: Distemper, Leptospirosis, and Rabies 11/26/24 Heartworm - Negative 11/26/24 Porter loves being outside and walks well on a leash. He would do best in a fenced property, as he would love to be off lead to run, play and do his "business". He needs some basic training and we have reason to believe that he may understand Spanish. He is currently working on wait, stop, easy, get busy and kennel up. He responds well when a person whistles. And he is currently hooked on ice cubes with kibble, cheap and easy way to reward him.
