My Story

**Currently fostered in Adamstown, MD** Hello! I am Puffin, the sweetest snuggly girl you could ever hope to meet. I am a Great Dane, but I am a fairly small Dane at a *mere* 93 lbs. I had a rough start to life in Texas and was found wandering the streets, very hungry. Several nice people took me in and got me enough veterinary care to come up to Virginia to find my forever home. I am happy and calm pretty much all the time. I love to nap on my dog bed and couches, and will happily snuggle up with my people. I have never met a person I don’t like! I get along with babies, small children, big kids, and grown-ups. People are the best because they give me ear rubs and tummy rubs. It doesn’t bother me if people come and go and are busy, or are calm and quiet. I just like it when people are around. I will follow my people around to any room in the house and nap or wait quietly for some loving. I only bark very rarely and would not be a good guard dog, but I’m great at keeping the house quiet and relaxed. I know how to sit and lay down and I’m learning to give my paw so gently for a shake when I am asked. I learned tricks very quickly with food motivation and am eager to please my people. I will follow them anywhere and have learned to be a wonderful walker on a leash, as long as I am wearing my harness and don’t get too close to other dogs. About that… Something about other dogs makes me feel anxious, and I will soon start to growl or even nip at them. I need to be the only dog in the household, but I promise I will give plenty of love for the whole family! Everyone thinks I’m about five years old. I have some old calloused spots on my legs from where I used to have to sleep outside on a hard surfaces, so I’m really grateful for soft beds now. Right now I am heartworm positive, but you would never know it. I am working through the cycle of getting my shots and taking my pills and will be completely healthy very soon. My adoption fee covers all of my heartworm treatment, so don’t worry about that!
