My Story

Meet Rambo! He is just 5lbs and at two years old, already has a lot of opinions. He likes to play and is happy to accompany his human places, but is equally happy having a snooze in his crate - there are no separation issues here! He's still adjusting to the city but doing well, and he is so excited for his forever family. His foster says: "Rambo came all the way over from Texas to the big city. He is a teeny tiny 5 lbs, and his arms sometimes angle outwards, giving him a stance to honor his namesake! He is learning how to walk outside on the busy NYC sidewalks. He can be a little nervous while outside (he gets the "chihuahua shakes", which makes lots of people coo at him in public!) but he has been improving and we've worked up to being able to walk around the whole block pretty easily. He also is good while sitting outside at coffee shops while I work and loves to sit in our lap and observe the passersby. When Rambo is happy, he is the absolute sweetest dog ever. He will nuzzle and paw at your hand for some head and butt scratches, and will keep pursuing you for more pets if he's not satisfied. He loves climbing into laps and looking up at you. Total heart-melter. He loves playing with his plush toys, and will get the zoomies when playing! Rambo needs someone who will be very patient with him as he adjusts to a new home. He can be territorial around his claimed safe space, so it's important that you take it very slow with him. He can switch between moods pretty quickly. So while he can become grumpy very easily, it's also possible to coax out his sweet playful side as well! In the past week we've had him, he has already improved and is feeling more relaxed, so we are hopeful for his continued progress. And the upside is that he absolutely LOVES his crate and has no problem being left alone in his crate if you need to go out for a few hours, and he sleeps quietly through the night in his crate as well. He is currently fully trained to use pee pads, but we are in the process of encouraging him to pee/poop outside as well." INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? To adopt Rambo, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email [email protected] to follow up on your application. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET. Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing aa dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!
