About Me
Characteristics
Friendly, Affectionate, Loyal, Playful, Smart, Protective, Brave, Curious, Funny, Athletic, Loves Kisses, High Energy
Meet Randy! This guy is about two years old - full of spirit and energy and is as playful and goofy as they come. He has learned so much over the last year with his foster family, as he came into rescue not knowing anything at all about manners and good boy behaviors. For example, he knows the commands, “No” and “Leave it” and tends to pick up things pretty quickly, showing that Randy is an intelligent pup. Rope toys are a must as he will play tug for hours with you or another dog.
Randy is beyond wonderful with other dogs, he thinks every puppy is his own child and will treat them as such. He is very submissive to other dogs, so if a dog says they had enough, he'll move on. He does well with most cats, he will chase and play with them. If a cat stands their ground, Randy will respect that and move away.
One of his favorite things to do is sun bathing. This boy loves his time in the sun and loves to lay out and soak up the rays.
He also loves running with his volunteer twice a week and they cover 3-4 miles in a little over 30 minutes.
Randy needs an owner who has experience with dogs- he is not for the first time dog owner. Randy gets overstimulated pretty easy and has issues with self regulating. He was not capable of self regulation at all a few months back, and now after some professional guidance, Randy is doing great. He may need to continue with his training to be the best “good boy” he can be.
As far as his housebreaking, he learned the bell system in 48 hours. As long as you pay attention, you will have little to no accidents. He sleeps all through the night. Currently he sleeps in the bed with his foster family. Randy is not completely crate trained, but he is okay with being in a crate. His foster family used to crate him when they were not home, but they no longer do that. Leash training is also coming along very well.
**We will not adopt Randy to a home with children. Preference will be given to applicants who own their own home and have breed experience.
Please check out Randy's Facebook page "Randy the foster dog" for additional information, pictures, and videos.
Randy really deserves a great home, as his foster mom says, “I can't stress how funny and silly and smart and quirky this guy is. He is best friend material!”
