My Story

Ranger is a diamond in the "ruff" who we know will be a true gem of a dog for the right adopter. True to his breed, Ranger is attentive, whip-smart, with boundless energy. He would thrive in a breed-experienced home that knows, loves, and understands all the traits of this highly intelligent working breed. Ranger LOVES to play and will do anything for a treat. He already knows sit, down, and has a great recall. He would excel with a job to do- he has proven his willingness to work and will actively seek out his favorite toy, even when hidden away out of view. He would be a great candidate for someone wanting to try out nosework or similar dog sports! Ranger has TONS of potential to be an amazing lifelong companion for someone who knows and loves the breed and can commit to continuing his training as well as provide him with PLENTY of daily exercise and mental stimulation. This goofy, exuberant guy will likely become a "velcro dog" once he's had a chance to form a bond with his new person. He's going to be a great adventure copilot and an even better snuggle buddy! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home: -Personality: Super duper smart, attentive, playful, adventure buddy! -Can Live with Kids: No, Ranger needs an adult-only home. -Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, will need slow, supervised intro. -Can Live with Dogs: Yes! Ranger LOVES hanging out with his friends in daily playgroups at the shelter and would love another canine companion to share his home with. He does seem to prefer females to males. -Can do Apartment Living: No, this active, high energy guy would do best in a home with a yard-- fenced would be great! -Potty Trained: Yes -Bite History: Yes, although exact details are unclear-- previous owner reports he "bit while in bath" but we're not really sure what that means. Based on (minimal) information provided to us by previous owner, it does not appear that Ranger has ever bit and broken skin, however there have been instances of snapping. -Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, Ranger needs a "red dog consult" prior to adoption and is required to sign up for at least one private lesson. -Energy Level: Very high! -Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Neuter/microchip
