Meet Ranger, a happy and loving 4-year-old Aussie Shepherd mix. Ranger was found abandoned on the trails of Alley Pond Park in Queens NY, and while we don’t know much about his past, we do know he’s a fantastic dog deserving of a fresh start with a forever family. Weighing about 43 pounds, Ranger is a healthy boy who thrives with people he trusts and feels comfortable around. He’s friendly and enjoys playing with other dogs. With balanced energy, Ranger loves walks and playtime but is equally content relaxing indoors on a rainy day. He’s not your typical “bounce-off-the-walls” Aussie; instead, he has a calm and content nature. Ranger is smart, eager to please, and loves mental stimulation like puzzle toys. He listens well, walks beautifully on a leash, and learns quickly—making him a joy to train. Ranger would do well in a home with or without other dogs. If he goes to a home without canine companions, regular playgroups or socialization opportunities with other dogs would be important to help keep him well-rounded. He’d thrive in a calm, low-traffic home with people who best understand herding breeds and where he can feel secure, loved, and valued.
