My Story

***PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO & ADOPTION CRITERIA BEFORE CONTACTING ODR OR APPLYING FOR ADOPTION, THANKS!*** MEET Ridley - GREAT DOG! Check out Ridley. He is just 5 1/2 months old and 24 lbs. He is fully vetted and neutered a very healthy strong boy. Ridley has long legs for running, hiking, jogging, and exploring. He will be your best friend. Loves to run and play, he really wants to learn. He is potty trained and needs a 36 inch wire crate. Totally crate trained and enjoys his Himalayan cheese sticks in his crate at bedtime and time out. Vet says he is an Airedale/Terrier mix. He gets along and plays with dogs his size, no cats and only older kids. He is a puppy does not know his own strength. He’s an exceptional boy! Get those applications in! Ridley will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. Like all Dachshunds, Ridley is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, Ridley needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards. OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print): Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues. WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE: All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $550, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. Can you give Ridley a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: [email protected] The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
