My Story

This pooch here is Riggs! He is a 3 year old Shepherd mix who weighs about 60 pounds. He is a fan of all people, including children. He loves nothing more than to cuddle, get hugs and give them. He thinks he's a small dog and loves to roll over in your lap for belly rubs. Riggs is both crate and potty trained, but his foster lets him free roam since he's so well behaved! Riggs just discovered what walks are and boy does he enjoy going on adventures and taking in all the sniffs! Since his previous family never walked him, it took him some time to learn leash manners but he's doing so well with it now and would still love a yard to play in! Riggs gets excited when he sees other dogs and is socially awkward with making new friends, so he prefers to live in solitude as the only pet in the home. His foster cannot emphasize enough how sweet, cuddly, and adorable he is. Riggs deserves a family this time around that will love him for who he is, because he will give SO much love in return. Riggs is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and heartworm negative. Apply to give this handsome boy the second chance he so deserves! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
