My Story

Meet Rocky! A spirited approximately six-and-a-half-year-old Yorkshire Terrier from Oceanside, CA, whose heart is as big as his personality. With his signature blue and tan coat, perky ears, and expressive eyes, Rocky is the definition of a classic Yorkie—curious, affectionate, and always ready for an adventure! Whether he’s trotting alongside on a nature walk or enthusiastically chasing after his favorite squeaky toy, this little guy is full of life and energy. Rocky loves to play fetch, especially with small balls or stuffed animals, and he has a deep appreciation for treats—making training sessions a great way to bond with him. He knows a few commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “come,” though consistency is still a work in progress. He’s house-trained but has recently had a few accidents. While he’s deeply affectionate with his trusted people, he struggles with anxiety and has displayed protective behaviors, particularly around strangers. He has bitten three people in situations where he felt uncertain or threatened. These incidents did not break the skin, but they indicate that Rocky will need a patient, experienced caregiver committed to positive reinforcement training and behavior management to help him feel more secure. His ideal home would be one that understands small dogs with big emotions. A structured, calm environment with predictable routines will help him gain confidence. A securely fenced yard could also be beneficial, giving him a safe space to explore. Because he is wary of unfamiliar people, introductions should be handled with care, allowing him to build trust at his own pace. Rocky is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations. He’s looking for a dedicated caregiver who can provide the behavioral guidance and support he needs. With time, patience, and love, Rocky has the potential to be a wonderful companion. If you have experience with anxious dogs and the heart to help Rocky thrive, he’s ready to meet you! To make sure that Rocky has a great start with his new family, we have a canine behaviorist available for a free consultation. Could you be the one to guide Rocky on his journey to confidence and security? If you're interested in providing Rocky with a loving home, please email [email protected] for more information on adopting him! Please note that Rocky will remain with his current family until a suitable new home is found for him.
