My Story
Are you looking for a new shadow? Well, that just might be me! I am a champion snuggler who always wants to be by your side. I follow my foster family everywhere they go, and when they sit down, I’m right there to climb in a lap, curl up by their side, or roll over for some belly rubs. My human foster sister says I’m the best cuddler she’s ever met and I love taking naps with her.
I really enjoy being outside in the yard and exploring the neighborhood on walks. I like meeting new people, including little ones, and am always up for some pets and scratches. I’m curious about other dogs we see but am a little shy with them at first. I like playing chase or keep away with the resident dog, and I’ve been good about reading his cues when he’s had enough. I would do well in a home with another dog or as an only dog. I haven’t met any cats yet. My favorite toy right now is a ball - I’ll chase it if you throw it for me, but if you’re busy, I’ll just toss it around for myself!
I’m still a pup, so I’m still learning the ropes of living in a house, and I’m quick to respond to correction and easy to redirect. I had a little accident my first night in my foster home, but since then I’ve been doing great with going potty outside! I’m not super food motivated, but I am very smart and so eager to please. I just soak up the praise when you tell me I’ve done a good job! I sleep in a crate by my foster sister’s bed at night and hang out in the crate by my foster mom’s desk while she works. I didn’t love the crate at first, but I’m quickly getting used to it and settle easily.
Everyone tells me that I am an absolute gem of a dog, and I think you would agree. I can’t wait to meet you - I just know you will fall in love!
Rookie is estimated to be 8 months old and 39 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested.
