Meet RUSTY Hi, I’m Rusty The rescue thinks I am a neutered Black Mouth Cur/Shepherd mix. I am approximately 4 years old, but don’t let that fool you as I am still very spunky.   I’m up to date on all my shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped.   I love to play and my favorite game is keep away or chase!   I’m an active short squatty guy weighing about 50lbs!   I’m dog friendly to medium and large breeds (male and female). I could be happy as an only dog or have a dog buddy. I’m not really sure about cats since I haven’t encountered any but my size and activity level might be more than most cats would be comfortable with. I do know my basic commands and get excited over food and treats. In the shelter I had potty accidents according to the workers there, but in my foster’s home I have been perfect. No accidents at all, so I’m potty trained and crate trained. I would need a fenced yard since I am not yet off leash trained. I would not be a good apartment dog!!! I love playing and running in the yard. I could be with a couple, single person, or family with kids. Kids over the age of 10 years old would be best, since due to my excitement I might knock a little one over just out of my exuberance. I ride well in the car and don’t have any anxiety. I love walks and playtime but likely would not be much of a long distance hiker or running partner. My ideal home would be an active family that included me on their daily family activities and adventures. Rusty is currently being fostered in Texas but available to transport to approved adopter in the Midwest, Northeast, PNW and Canada.
