My Story

My name is Salami, and my friends call me Sally Girl for short! I’m a sweet 1 year old baby who showed up on the street outside my foster’s house one day, hungry and sad but still oh so friendly. I love everybody I meet, dogs and people and even bunny rabbits! I haven’t met many cats yet, but I do get excited about potential playmates so I’d probably need slow careful introductions since I chase them sometimes. I’m heartworm negative, potty trained and crate trained, and learning some basic commands like sit and stay. I’m a goofy 45lb girl who loves to play and snuggle in equal measure, and my long legs mean I’d probably be a great running partner if that’s your thing! We’re not sure where I came from, but all I know is that I’d love to be your best friend and snuggle buddy forever and always. Just try and resist my beautiful golden eyes and silky soft ears, I dare ya! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2021 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $300 Dogs over 12 months - $200 For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
