My Story
Hello, my name is Sally! My birthday was on November 5, 2024, and I turned two years old. I am being fostered in Monroe, WA.
I am looking for a very special forever home. I have some special needs but nothing that is too drastic. I am a bit of a “nervous Nelly” at times, so I will need a person, or people, who can be patient with me and who have previous Boxer experience to become my new family. My ideal home would be one where there are only adults who live there, no other dogs or animals, and also one where there is a fenced yard for me to run and play in.
My foster parents think that I wasn’t properly socialized in my former home and because of that, I tend to be afraid and reactive when not introduced to new people slowly. I do love people very much though once I get to take my time with meeting them. My foster parents will be more than happy to show you what they find works best for me if you would like to meet me with the possibility of adopting.
Things I love the most are belly rubs, playing in the water, snuggling, playing with my plush toys, playing fetch, going for walks in quiet areas, car rides, treats, treats, and more treats. Because I love treats so much, and I am eager to please, I am very trainable. I know the commands sit, off, out, wait, roll over, and go for a walk. I am working on learning even more new things every day! It would be so great if my forever family would continue to work with me on all things training related – I just really love to learn and it will give us excellent bonding time together!
I am crate trained and whenever I have to be left at home I happily hang out in my crate as I find this a very safe place to be. But, when my people are home, I spend as much time as possible laying in their laps!
My foster parents treat me to spa days at home because I am so easy to work with. I will hop in the bathtub just to ask for a bath! I love the water! Once I am done with my bath, I love the hairdryer with all that warm air blowing to help get me dry. When my foster mom gets out of her shower, I wait to hear the hairdryer, and I run up the stairs so that we can share the warm blowing air, even though I'm not wet. Having my nails done makes me a little nervous but we have found a way to get it done quickly, safe, and easily.
I get to go for walks but it's best if I keep to myself and my people. We usually walk in areas that don’t have much going on though because those pesky rabbits and squirrels like to taunt me, and I want to run after them due to having a strong prey drive. When I see something that triggers my reactive self, I can be redirected and then I’m able to calm back down fairly quickly; consistency and patience are key!
I have gone to the park to hang out and watch people and their dogs, but I stay pretty far away. I am working on becoming more relaxed and learning that my people will keep me safe, but it's a work in progress.
I have had the pure joy of going on boat rides when the weather is nice. There is just something about the wind blowing my floppy ears and the smell of the salt water that makes me so happy. If you have a boat and would enjoy having me be your co-captain on rides, I would really love that!
Overall, I’d say I’m quite the catch! I am just imperfect and am still learning how to trust (but who isn’t?). If you are ready to make me your one and only pup, and would like to consider adopting me, then please send in an application today – https://www.mustluvboxersrescue.com/adopt.
