My Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application Hi! I'm Sally and I'm ready to be your best friend. I have a big ole heart and I'm ready to share it with you! I'm a 10 month old Black Mouth Cur Mix weighing about 45 pounds. I moved in with my foster family and their 75 pound Pyrenees Mix and became an instant member of the family. I already learned how to sit and I'm working on other basic commands. I understand 'No' and quickly adjust my behavior if I'm not doing the right thing. I aim to please! I've met some younger kids (4-6 years old) and they seemed pretty cool. My mom took me to the dog park and I played with all of the dogs (even the really big ones!) and had a great time. I sleep through the night on a bed next to my fosters, but I'd really like to be in the big bed with them, but once I'm settled, I'm good to stay in my own spot. I'm housebroken too, no accidents so far! Car rides are fine, I just like to lay down but will pop up to see what's going on every now and then. I'm pretty quiet, unless someone's at the door, or another dog starts to bark, but otherwise you won't hear much from me. Oh and I love to watch TV! I'd love to be yours, I'll give you nothing but the sweetest puppy dog eyes and genuine affection I can muster! What my foster mom says about me: Cuddles: Sally will cuddle for a bit, and she does love a good scratch session, but often she'll just plop down in a spot on the floor and take a nap. Chews: Sally really likes to chew - bones, toys and occasionally the wrong thing - but with a quick correction and distraction - she's learning very fast what's acceptable and what's not. Smarts: She is very smart - and brave! She has been quick to learn basic commands like sit and come. We are working on learning down and 'give me 5'. She isn't afraid of the car or vacuum! Eats: Sally is a FAST eater. She's slowing down a bit, but likely due to her life in the shelter she's still working on slowing down. She LOVES treats and bones/antlers, and hasn't shown any aggression towards us if we try to take them away. She was a little protective (verbally) of her bone around our dog, but we've been quick to discourage that behavior. Potty: She's been great about going outside and has alerted us that she needs to go out by walking to the back door. Sleeps: She has a dog bed on the floor next to our bed and is in the room with us (door closed) at night. She sleeps great, once she's down. At first she wanted to be in the bed with us, only because she just loves to be loved, but after a few corrections she was fine to curl up in her bed. Walks: She's great on a leash - still getting the hang of it, but isn't a puller. Social: She loves meeting people and has no fear and enjoys other dogs too. We've been to the dog park and she played with dogs twice her size and smaller dogs too with no issue. She also spent some time just roaming around by herself. But she always comes looking for you to make sure you're still there! Sally's Ideal Home: A fun, active household that will include her in their adventures. Other dogs are great and she will quickly become their best friend! Our schedule allows for us to be home most of the time, so Sally hasn't been left alone for long periods of time yet. I would recommend a crate/kennel if you're going to be out for a bit to ensure she doesn't get herself into the wrong things. She was previously crate trained, but we didn't require it due to our schedules so she's free-range most of the day with our other dog.
