Sammi is a sweet, soft-hearted 5-year-old girl, weighing 17 lbs and resembling a Jack Russell in size and shape, but with striking black-and-tan coloring. She is fully housebroken, dog-friendly, and great in the car. Surrendered by her previous owner due to her fear of young, active children, Sammi will thrive in an adult-only household or one with older kids who understand her need for gentleness. She loves her regular walks but also adores long hikes, making her adaptable to whatever you want to do. Her forever home must show her love, compassion and understanding as she adjusts to her new people and routine, but within a week at her foster home Sammi was giving her foster-humans kisses, joyful butt wiggles and happy bounces. She still has moments of uncertainty but works out of them more quickly each day. She is a great snuggler and loves being under the covers with you. Whether you’re heading to bed or settling in to watch TV, make room for Sammi—she’ll be right there by your side.
While she lived peacefully with a cat in her previous home, Sammi has shown too much interest in the foster home's cat, so a cat-free environment would be best. She currently lives with three dogs in her foster family, and handles their different personalities super well though she was uncertain of the large dog at first. She shows spurts of wanting to play with them but her main focus is always on her people. Out on walks she has mixed reactions to seeing other dogs. Sammi has truly wonderful house manners, and she’s had no accidents. She's crate trained but is so mannerly she doesn't need it. The family who adopts this sweet, gentle soul will have a wonderful companion for life. Located in Manheim, PA.
