AHFK is located in SE Minnesota, in the Austin/Albert Lea area. AHFK is primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue. Our focus is to pull from High-Kill Shelters and to save those dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. All AHFK adoptions require an approved, completed application, a Veterinarian and Personal Reference Check, a smoke-free environment, and a home visit. Our Adoption fee is $425.00 for a single dog adoption. All our dogs are completely vetted, 4DX tested, current on vaccinations, *spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We are currently accepting adoption applications for Sammie - IA. Sammie is a breeder-release. He is 6 years of age and has been socialized with other dogs and does very well. He is shy with humans but warms up rather quickly, and will approach on his own. Sammie is approximately 35# and is fully grown. He is a Mini Bernese Mountain Dog mix. He is the perfect family pet. As a general rule, we state that all of our fosters are not house-trained. We realize that changes in routine and environment causes stress and can lead to accidents. Sammie is crated at night only and at this time, and he keeps his crate clean and dry. He has not had the opportunity to have accidents in the home. His routine is consistent and he progresses will with his routine. Sammie is looking for a home where one Pet Parent is a stay-at-home parent, or one which works from home; a family that can help Sammie acclimate to his new surroundings and environment with compassion, love, and patience. Please allow 6-8 weeks for Sammie to acclimate to the drastic changes in his life. Meet and greets are scheduled upon approved, completed application.
