My Story

Samuel is an outgoing, fun-loving, and rambunctious French Bulldog puppy with a zest for life and a playful, joyful energy! Most of the time, you’ll find Samuel bouncing around, eager to wrestle with his furry friends or nibbling on his favorite Nylabone. Like any typical puppy, he’s full of curiosity and energy, always ready for a new game or a romp around the house. But what makes Samuel unique is his ability to adapt to different environments—he has a wonderful “on and off switch.” He can be active and playful, but when it’s time to settle down, he has no problem quieting himself and taking a snooze, even in social settings like meet-and-greets or at a baseball game. Though Samuel occasionally enjoys chasing toys, his real passion is wrestling and playing with other dogs. He loves to engage his furry friends in games and has never met a dog he didn’t like, whether big or small. His silliness around other dogs is adorable—he’s the life of the party and will try his hardest to initiate play with any dog willing to engage. Because of his playful puppy energy, Samuel would love a furry sibling in his adoptive home. A friendly dog who can match his energy and even teach him a few more things about how to be a well-mannered pup would be ideal. Samuel’s love for life extends beyond just his furry friends—he absolutely adores humans too. He’s never met a stranger and greets everyone with his playful, sweet nature. He’s great with children, but like any puppy, he still has some growing up to do, so a home with dog-savvy kids who understand the need for gentle play and boundaries would be perfect for him. Given his rambunctious nature, Samuel will need supervision around children and other pets to ensure everyone stays safe during playtime. One of Samuel’s unique traits is that he’s a “diaper baby.” He’s a happy, healthy pup, but he needs a little extra help to stay fresh and dry. Samuel is both fecal and urine incontinent, so he wears diapers, which need to be changed a few times a day. His foster family has found that this quickly becomes part of the daily routine, and Samuel is an easygoing boy who takes it all in stride. Being a diaper dog doesn’t slow him down at all—he’s just as playful and full of life as any other puppy, and he gets around without any issues! His forever family should be ready to take on this small, extra bit of care with patience and understanding, knowing that Samuel’s sweet personality and endless love make it all worthwhile. At the end of the day, after all the play and excitement, Samuel loves to curl up for a nap, preferably in the coziest spot available, like a large human bed where he can feel secure and loved. He’s the perfect combination of active and cuddly—ready to entertain and keep you smiling with his puppy antics, but also more than happy to snuggle up when he’s tired out. Sammie is urine and fecal incontinent and is unable to tell when he needs to urinate or defecate due to an assumed congenital defect. He will need an adoptive family that is able and willing to express his bladder and change his diapers for the rest of his life. His adoptive family should have some experience or education with incontinent dogs and be prepared for the additional care that comes along with his situation. Sammie does VERY WELL with his diaper routine and responds well when it is time to change his diaper. Currently, his foster family uses a combination of disposable toddler diapers, washable dog diapers, and belly bands. Because he is more susceptible to UTIs, keeping him clean and dry is imperative to ensure he doesn’t encounter additional infections. Sammie doesn’t spend time in a crate but if needed he could adapt. He is offered a small dog safe space in his foster home when his family happens to leave them home as it is the best option to keep him secured for easy clean up if he leaks. For his safety, we recommend that he is kept in a similar safe area when his humans are away from the home and/or he is left unsupervised, so he is safe and secure. He does not know danger and is still learning what is expected of him inside the home. Sammie naps in a human bed diapered, but to allow him ample time outside his diaper, he sleeps the night in a safe secured area that allows for easy clean up (washable pads work great!).
