My Story

The adoption process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at 'https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application. Phone interviews do not take place til after an approved application is on file and we have a possible match for your home My name is Scout (female). I am DEAF. I am 1.5 years old and weigh 20 pounds. I need a new home because my owner did not have time to spend with me. I am being fostered in Aurora, CO I am young and trainable. Working on sign language. I love to snuggle on laps! I love to sleep in my human’s bed and bury myself under the blankets. I am a sweet girl with a lot of puppy energy. I don’t love going in my crate, but I do okay with a frozen Kong to keep me busy. I love to play tug and can quickly outsmart my foster-sister when she tries to horde all of the toys. I am a tenacious little girl, who will be a great pet for someone who can put in time to learn some signs to communicate with me. I’m a smart little girl! I would rather not ... be touched unexpectedly because I am deaf. I like to see touches coming. I need ...an owner who can be patient with me. I’m learning some manners, but I need an owner who can learn and teach me signs. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? Yes. Leash-trained? Working on it! I love walks, but I pull at the beginning because I’m so excited to go! Rides well in car? Yes Good with other dogs? Yes, but I’m still very young and have a lot of energy, which can be a bit much sometimes. My foster mom takes me on walks to burn off the energy and I walk very well with my foster brother and sister. Good with cats? Yes. I’m not that interested in them. Good with young children? Yes Good with strangers? Shy at first, but warms up quickly Shy or confident? Confident Barks? Occasionally Apartment qualified? Yes Any Special needs or Health Issues? I am deaf Adoption Fee? $450 The adoption process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at ''https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application. All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption. MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we DO adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. We do not accept invisible fencing. MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, MN, and NW AR due to the lack of volunteer support in other states, no exception even if you are willing to drive. If you are Interested in Adoption please complete our online adoption application at 'https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application Petfinder's form is NOT our application. We will respond back to you within 72 hours of receiving your application. Interested in Donating visit https://www.adoptaboston.com/donate
