My Story

Meet Sissy, an 11 year old Shih Tzu mix weighing around 10 pounds. Sissy was brought to us with Daisy after their owner passed away, the person that took over their care couldn't care for them long term and brought them into us. Needless to say, Sissy's entire life has been turned upside down and she is looking for somewhere soft to land to spend her senior years. From what we gathered, Sissy's owner rescued her from a bad situation with a backyard breeder where she primarily had lived in a cage. Sissy is a little on the shy side, which is understandable knowing her history and all of the change that has happened. She has lived with cats and dogs and did well with both but her ideal home with be without any young kids or exuberant big dogs. She came to us with some matting and severe dental disease that required multiple extractions, because of this she is on soft food. She is a breed mix that required regular grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best! Sissy is a sweet girl who just needs some TLC to help her come out of her shell. Are you the person for her? Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT?? That's where you and the pet make sure you're a good fit for one another by having a fun sleepover prior to finalizing your adoption. It's a win-win for everyone! Just ask our front desk staff about how it works. Interested in adopting this or another YHS pet? Please complete our adoption questionnaire found at: https://yakimahumane.org/adopt/apply/ Our adoption fee includes a lovable companion, spay/neuter, vaccinations and intestinal worming, flea/tick treatment, rabies vaccine (for pets over 3-4 months of age) and a microchip with nationwide registration. Your adoption fee helps support YHS and our spay/neuter efforts in the community to end overpopulation of cats and dogs. If you have any questions, please e-mail us at [email protected].
