My Story

Skelly is a sweet senior dog who is looking for her forever family who will make her golden years her best years. She is an active dog who will be a wonderful companion to her new family. Skelly came into the rescue in May 2024 and was very underweight and had minor wounds on her feet. A wonderful foster opened their home to Skelly, and Skelly has been living the good life while gaining some healthy weight and allowing the bumps and scrapes her feet to completely heal. Skelly is now around 45 lbs, and a healthy weight for her is 50-55 lbs. She is very loved at her foster home, but it's now time for Skelly to find her forever family, opening up the foster home to rescue another dog in need. So why should you adopt this beautiful senior dog? Skelly is an absolute gem. --She is calm and quiet in her kennel; however, she doesn't get into things when left alone in the house. She loves her big, fluffy dog bed. --She walks well on the leash. --She understands her people and takes directions well. She knows basic commands: sit/down/bed/come/stay/recalls. --She is friendly to everyone she meets: from children to adults. Bonus points given to people who give head and butt scratches --She is hilarious and will talk to you when she is hungry and thinks you are being a little slow to prepare her meal. Being a senior doesn't mean she isn't active or that her best days are behind her. Skelly loves to play in the water and looks forward to trips to the river. She also loves to explore the great outdoors. She is a great road trip companion and loves to ride in the car. Skelly is currently fostered in the country and does well with cats, dogs, horses, and even cattle! Skelly had a thorough vet checkup and is now ready for adoption. Our vet estimates that Skelly is about 10 years old. Skelly has been spayed and has been vaccinated for DHPP, bordetella vaccinated, microchipped and is current on flea/tick and heart worm prevention. Skelly is heartworm negative. She can arrive in Washington on March 1. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the application found here: https://throwadogabone.org/adopt We respond to all inquiries.
