My Story

Sol is as full of sunshine as her name implies! A pyrfect name for a pyrfect girl. She is constantly smiling and it lights up her face just like the sun. This girl loves her people, but shines when she has a playmate to pal around with, so another male dog in her forever home is a must. She enjoys walking on a leash and exploring new areas. Her tail wags so big when she meets a dog along the way. Sol came to rescue as an owner surrender because she decided she liked chickens too much; but who could blame her as she is at least 20 lbs underweight. She loves the house and quietly walked into her crate to hang out. Sol craves attention and is happy to walk right by your side, with or without leash; she will even sit when asked. Grooming session – no problem, as that equals attention, so bring on those spa days for this girl! She has not been around children while in rescue but her gentle and friendly personality leads us to believe she would do well. She is not only gorgeous but smart; learning new commands quickly and eagerly. Sol is so sweet and friendly to everyone and everything she meets. This girl needs a home with a secure fenced yard and a canine companion or two—cats would be great too! She is truly a wonderful girl; get your fill of sunshine everyday by choosing Sol for your new family member! NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 NGPR dogs are in foster homes at the location specified on their full listing. View the full listing (with location, fee and application link) at HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTABLE-DOGS Completion of an application is required to be considered for any dog. Please fill out the application on our website and we will contact you. HTTPS://NATIONALPYR.ORG/ADOPTION-APPLICATION/ Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
