Sonny has puppy energy in abundance and a curious nature that leads him to explore anything new with excitement rather than hesitation. This goofy, sensitive boy is still learning the ropes of the world, but he’s eager and quick to pick up new skills, especially when there’s a tasty treat involved. Training is a breeze for him, as he’s highly motivated and enjoys the process of learning. With a medium-high energy level, Sonny follows a routine that includes 1.5 hours of playtime, eating, and potty breaks, followed by a good 3-hour nap to recharge. After a night of restful sleep, he’s ready to go again with his playful and affectionate nature. Sonny loves being handled, petted, and kissed, and he responds well when called by his name. His love for toys is endless, especially when there’s a ropey toy to tug on or a chew bone to work through. Sonny enjoys playing fetch and would absolutely thrive in a home with another dog to be his playmate and teach him the ways of the world. While he’s still learning about living with cats, he’s not aggressive—just curious and playful. His ideal home would have a secure backyard where he can safely explore and a patient family who will continue teaching him the tricks of life. Because he’s still a young puppy, Sonny can’t hold his bladder for too long, so easy access to the outdoors for potty breaks is essential. He’s almost potty trained and is getting the hang of asking to go outside, but for now, he’s a pro at using puppy pee pads when needed. Sonny isn’t fond of being left alone in a crate for too long, and when left unsupervised outside the crate, he tends to explore with his teeth—wires and shoes are simply too tempting for this playful guy. To keep him safe and happy, it would be great for him to have a playpen when left alone or for someone to supervise him as he continues to grow and learn. He’s also learning to walk nicely on a leash, though he’s still a little excitable at times, so a bit of reinforcement and practice will help him become the perfect walking companion. This affectionate boy would do well in a home with kids, especially if they’re old enough to respect his sharp puppy teeth. Sonny loves cuddling with his humans or his older dog sibling, and there’s nothing better than sleeping peacefully by their side.
