Rescue Background
Soy was rescued in October 2024 from a high-kill shelter in Goksung, South Korea. She has since been thriving in a foster home, where she has developed into a sweet and calm companion. Soy is now ready to find her forever home, where she can share her gentle and loving nature.
Personality & Behavior
Soy is a quiet, affectionate dog who enjoys a calm and stable environment.
• With Women: Soy bonds quickly with women and feels at ease in their company.
• With Men: Soy gets along well with men but may take slightly longer to warm up to them. She is generally cautious around elderly individuals (70+ years old) during walks but remains calm and manageable.
• With Children: While Soy hasn’t lived with children, her gentle demeanor suggests she would do well with calm, respectful kids.
• With Dogs: Soy prefers her human’s attention and can get jealous if other dogs are close to her human. She tolerates other dogs but is happiest as the only pet in the household.
• With Cats & Other Animals: Soy shows no interest in cats or other small animals.
Soy is a loyal companion who enjoys staying close to her humans. She often follows them around the house or curls up nearby. She loves being petted and has a charming habit of kissing her humans.
Training & Habits
• Potty Training: Soy is fully trained for outdoor potty breaks but occasionally uses pee pads indoors. She prefers outdoor elimination and will transition easily to 100% outdoor potty training with consistency.
• Leash Skills: Soy walks well on a leash, staying close to her handler. She may show curiosity by sniffing or walking slightly ahead but doesn’t pull.
• Crate Training: While Soy doesn’t use a crate at home, she travels comfortably in one during car rides.
• Car Rides: Soy is generally calm in the car but may experience mild motion sickness after extended trips (over 2 hours). Keeping her stomach empty before travel helps.
• Bathing & Grooming: Soy doesn’t enjoy baths but tolerates them without aggression. She is cooperative with grooming, though she may need time to adjust to new routines.
• Vocalization: Soy rarely barks, even in response to external noises like doorbells or delivery trucks.
Health & Diet
• Health Status: Soy is healthy, though she frequently scratches her ears. While her ears are clean, this behavior might indicate mild allergies. One front tooth is missing but doesn’t affect her eating ability.
• Diet: Soy is fed on a free-feeding schedule and prefers to graze throughout the day. She is currently eating Taste of the Wild, which has been recommended to address her potential allergies.
• Favorite Treats: Soy loves meat-based treats and apples.
• Favorite Toys: She occasionally plays with squeaky toys but prefers lounging near her human.
Daily Routine
• Morning: Soy wakes up around 7 AM, walks briefly, and eats breakfast. She prefers to eat small portions throughout the day.
• Daytime: While her foster is at work (5-6 hours), Soy rests in her favorite spot, often near the window or on the couch.
• Evening: Soy enjoys dinner with her foster family and a relaxing evening walk. She likes staying close to her humans and will follow them around or relax nearby.
• Night: Soy prefers to sleep in her foster’s bed or nearby on a comfortable dog bed.
Ideal Home
Soy would thrive in a quiet, affectionate home where she can enjoy a predictable routine and plenty of love.
• Best Fit: A home where Soy can be the only dog, as she prefers her human’s undivided attention.
• Lifestyle: Soy would do well with a family who enjoys relaxed walks and quality time at home.
• Environment: A calm household without frequent visitors or young children would suit her best.
Soy’s foster family describes her as affectionate and gentle, making her an excellent companion for someone seeking a loyal and loving dog.
