Meet Spunky: The Sweet, Playful Soul with a Heart of Gold! Spunky is a beautiful 3-year-old Whippet/Hound mix, & she’s every bit as delightful as her name suggests! At just 20 pounds, she’s a petite, affectionate dog with a gentle spirit & a playful side that comes alive around other pups. Spunky’s journey hasn’t been easy—she was found as a stray in Beauregard Parish—but with the help of some wonderful volunteers, she’s safe now, on her way to healing, & ready to find the loving forever home she truly deserves. Spunky has a naturally maternal side and has instantly taken on the role of “mama” to the puppies she’s currently helping to foster. She can’t resist checking on them when they whimper, grooming them, & making sure they’re happy! She’d thrive in a feline-free home with dog siblings who share her friendly, playful nature. Spunky is a perfect balance of playful and cuddly. While she loves to romp around, she’s equally happy curling up beside you for a cozy snuggle. A home with a spacious, secure yard would be ideal for her to run & play safely. She’s already spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, & currently undergoing treatment for heartworms. Though she’s heartworm-positive, she’s asymptomatic & handling her treatment well. This special girl is a bit shy at first, but with a patient, loving family, she’ll bloom into the most loyal, affectionate companion you could hope for. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
