My Story

All HSWA dogs are either at our Dog Adoption Facility or in foster homes. All dogs require an appointment to meet. Please call us at 205-554-0011 or email [email protected] to request an appointment to see the dog/puppy and to check availability. This heartbreakingly sweet and sometimes shy angel is looking for a furever home (and lap) that will allow her to finally feel like she has the security and love she craves. Stella is an approximately 2-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier/French Bulldog mix with a predominately white coat and the cutest black “mask”. It’s her ears though, that really give her the most adorable appearance – they seem to be overly large for her small body and will stick straight up when she is happy and interested in something. Stella is a small dog and currently weighs about 13 pounds. We have started on her crate training, and Stella is up to date on her vet care, is heartworm negative, is microchipped, and will be spayed soon. She is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Stella was pulled from our local animal shelter where she had been picked up as a stray and the owners didn’t want her any longer, poor baby. Stella is struggling with trust issues, but she is so sweet and it’s obvious that she wants to give in and just be loved on, but her wariness and shyness are holding her back. She has made great progress, but the chaos of the dog house isn’t helping this sweet baby girl settle down and relax. Stella allows you to pet her and hold her, but there is still hesitancy and fear on her part, so she will need a calm, patient environment to fully feel that she is safe and secure. When she feels secure, Stella has a cute, playful, and fun personality that she allows you to see when she is in her kennel or running around in the yard, and once she is comfortable, there’s no doubt that her favorite thing to do will be to cuddle in your lap. Stella will need a fenced yard if left outside unattended at all, but she is not to be an outside dog only as her small size needs supervision. She should be great in an apartment setting provided there is plenty of outside exercise incorporated into her daily activities. Given Stella’s nervousness and shyness, she would probably be best in a home that is calm and has older children. She hasn’t been tested with other dogs, but she seems interested in other pups and doesn’t seem to be afraid of them. Stella’s sweetly adorable and shy personality will win over anyone who encounters her – it’s impossible not to fall in love with this baby that needs so much extra love, attention, and patience! So, if you’re looking for a precious angel that needs lots of TLC, then we’ve got your girl! Our adoption fee is $125.
