My Story

****We are Huts for Mutts-Hamilton Dog Rescue, Hamilton, TX. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is working with the City of Hamilton to find loving foster and permanent homes for dogs that have been abandoned and have ended up in the Hamilton Pound. We are in Texas, and we transport our dogs North because Texas is overflowing with unwanted dogs. All of our dogs are vaccinated and on preventatives. Dogs older than six months are spayed or neutered. Huts for Mutts has been in operation for nearly 20 years, providing free spay/neuter to low-income residents of Hamilton, and doing our best to find loving homes for abandoned, neglected or abused dogs. Our website is currently undergoing a major overhaul and is currently unavailable. If you are interested in learning more about our organization, or any of our dogs, please send an email to [email protected]**** It was a dark and Stormy day...someone called Animal Control to report a small dog with a puppy running around in the park. Yeah, they were dumped. They were an easy catch, and the ACO looked all around to ensure no other puppies were involved but it was just Stormy and her puppy, Callie. Callie has recently been adopted. Stormy is the sweetest, most lovable, lap dog. If there’s a lap to be climbed into, she’ll do it. Doesn’t matter if the lap belongs to a child or an adult. She’s a hugger. Stormy was in the Hamilton Pound for about a month, with very little human interaction, which was difficult for an affectionate dog like Stormy. She’s now in a wonderful foster home. Stormy has been great around her foster’s cat and kitten; she leaves the cats alone. If she follows them, she maintains a safe, respectful distance. She needs supervision around chickens. Turns out, Stormy loves trampolines! When her foster’s kids are jumping on the trampoline, she jumps up on it too and just squats in the middle. Stormy is a master at walking on leash and loves car rides, though she hasn’t quite learned how to get in without help. Stormy likes to hang out with other dogs, children, and adults. Stormy is ~ 48 lbs, ~2 to 3 years old, spayed, heart worm negative, and is up to date on rabies and vaccines, and on prevention for fleas/ticks and other parasites. We know "Pit Bull" scares people but remember The Little Rascals? Petie was a Pit! We "Pit folks" know they are as affectionate and safe as the next dog; maybe even safer, if the next dog is a chihuahua aka ankle-biter! Stormy will make a great addition to almost any family. ***Our adoption fee is $200 ***Transportation fee outside of Texas is an additional $300 We use only reputable, trusted transports, to deliver our dogs to their new families.
