Sweetpea

Meet Sweetpea, an around nine year old pit mix that is being returned to us after almost eight years. Sweetpea is petite and shy, mostly stemming from being a stray as a very young pup. She came into the shelter at around a year old, very emaciated (about 12 pounds) and very skittish. When puppies don’t get the proper socialization it can cause them to be timid their whole life. So here Sweetpea is, timid due to early neglect, and now has to learn a new family and environment. We don’t know what her transition will look like so we are seeking a foster or foster to adopt home where Sweetpea can be given the compassion, understanding and patience for an innocent creature who just lost everything. Sweetpea is reported to get along with other dogs and cats. She seems to do well with children but will need a calmer household. She is house trained and will need a fenced in yard to assist with providing a level of safety while she learns to trust again. Sweetpea will need someone that has a true heart and forever commitment because as she takes time to warm up to people, she is reported by the family returning her to still have her good and bad days.
