My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision-making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Talula, 5-year-old, spayed female, pitbull mix, 55 pounds. Talula will be arriving to the Seattle, WASHINGTON area and will be available for meet-and-greets beginning the week of September 16th. If you do not live within reasonable driving distance, virtual meets can be arranged. Talula had a home, she had a mom, a two-legged sister and a kitty sibling but all that was lost when her family fell on hard times, and she ended up hit by a car and at the SPCA. We had hoped she would be able to return to her family but unfortunately, things did not end up that way and this sweet, perfect girl is back to looking for her furever home. Talula is incredibly dog friendly - she lives in a foster home with 6 other dogs ranging from a 10lb chihuahua to a 106lb cane corso/pittie mix. She gets along with the males, females, old and young, bigs and smalls alike. Her play style is very playful and submissive - she enjoys chasing her foster sister around the back yard, rolling on her back when wrestling before swapping roles, and just having a grand ol' time. Talula is fully house trained and knows how to use a doggy door. Even when first in her foster home, Talula never had an accident and adapted quickly to the routine of the house. She loves her crate and will often take a break from the chaos by napping or putting herself to bed. She enjoys taking her meals in her kennel and is a true gentlewoman, quiet as a church mouse when crated. Her foster works from home so she isn't usually kenneled for long, but she has been crated on occasion up to 9hrs. Talula is a fantastic house guest and is not destructive - she is totally fine to be left alone unsupervised and has yet to get into anything she shouldn't, although she does appreciate cuddling up to a shoe when you're not home (she never eats it though, just snuggles your scent!). She enjoys the opportunity to sleep loose (sometimes she doesn't want to, instead choosing her kennel) and is a perfect bed-guest too. She finds a spot near the foot of the bed and stays there. Talula walks well on a leash and is non-reactive when encountering other dogs or strangers; she rides well in a car; and of course, enjoys plushy toys or snack time. Her only "flaws" appear to be a penchant for digging holes and immediately rolling around in the freshly tilled dirt; being an epic snorer; and being timid around men. Even after nearly 6 months, she never quote got used to her foster dad or brother-in-law. She also really loves to protect her house from passersby in the windows, barking back and forth. Overall, Talula is so even keeled that it speaks volumes of the hardships her adoptive home must have been going through that they would not come back for her. We would love for her next chapter to be the last time she is unsettled. She is the most cuddly, sweet and affectionate girl there is, and she deserves a home that is willing to reciprocate that love. She doesn't need an overly active house - a backyard to run around in or a couple walks a day are plenty to satisfy her physical demands. She would love having a sibling of the two- and four-legged variety, or plenty of opportunities for doggy day care, play dates, or the dog park to socialize. Talula has lived with toddlers and cats before but does not currently live with either. In general, we recommend homes with kids over the age of 10yrs or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
