My Story

Meet Tequila, the 65-pound fluffy love bug who’s ready to be your new best friend—and trust me, she’s got all the qualities of a perfect sidekick. This 4-5-year-old Border Collie mix has been through some tough times. After her favorite human passed away, she found herself in a rural kill shelter, wondering what happened to her cozy life. But we scooped her up, gave her some TLC, and now she’s ready to trade in her sad story for a happily-ever-after, and of course, to wiggle her way into your heart. Tequila is as sweet as they come—no sass, just pure, wiggly-butt love. She’s got a heart of gold and a coat that’s softer than your favorite blanket. Seriously, you’ll want to brush her just for the excuse to pet her more! Tequila is a social butterfly, getting along great with other dogs and humans, though she’s pretty sure cats are weird and would rather not have them in her new home. This girl’s hobbies include rolling over for belly rubs, sticking to you like glue, and convincing you that exercise is more fun when it involves leisurely walks and lots of snuggles. She’s fully house-trained, crate-trained (though she’s so well-behaved she doesn’t really need one), and has zero interest in destroying your stuff. Toys? Meh. Hanging out with you? Absolutely. Tequila’s dream home is one where she can be with her people as much as possible—she’s not into being left behind. She’s on a mission to get back to a healthier weight, so she’ll need a family that’s down to help her shed a few pounds while still letting her indulge in those belly rubs. If you’re ready to add a loyal, lovable, and downright adorable companion to your life, apply today and give Tequila the forever home she’s been waiting dreaming of! PLEASE READ BELOW: If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt **Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue). The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months - $350 Dogs over 12 months - $250 *Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! For additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets, see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq *Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as Pet Finder, and are no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
