My Story

Tiger Lily is a sensitive girl who is still learning to trust the world around her. When she first meets someone, she's hesitant, taking her time to sniff and observe before making a decision-but once she feels safe, her affectionate side shines through. She'll gently push her head under your hand for more pets and even settle into your lap for comfort. She's looking for a calm, patient home that will help her build confidence at her own pace. She's not quite sure about toys or other dogs yet, but with time and reassurance, she may come out of her shell even more. If you have a quiet home, a gentle heart, and the willingness to show Tiger Lily the world isn't so scary, she could be the pup pal you've been looking for. Meet Tiger Lily at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Behavior notes: 03/03/2025 volunteer notes: met Tiger Lily at her kennel door. She approached when I called her and put her paws up on the door with a wagging tail. I gave her a treat and she took it gently. 03/03/2025 staff notes: Upon approach, Tiger Lily was lying on her kuranda bed. She approached the kennel door when she heard handler and sniffed at the bars, then gently put her paws up on the bars and sniffed hand through them. Handler opened the kennel door and Tiger Lily sniffed hand and leash, giving several low tail wags. She backed away/ducked away from first few leashing attempts but was able to be leashed after a few tries. She exited her kennel tentatively and walked low and cautiously to the exit, with minimal pulling. Once outside we entered the rear play yard - took some coaxing from handler to get her to enter the yard, as she was reluctant to cross the threshold. She spent about 5-10 minutes sniffing around the yard and did not solicit attention from handler during this time, but would approach to sniff. After several minutes, handler tried calling to Tiger Lily and she came over readily, soliciting attention and allowing pets. Initially would flinch when touched but then would allow petting and would push her head under handler's arm/hands to solicit more attention. Handler touched the back of her head and she whipped her head around, seeming startled, but then sniffed hand and loosened. When handler sat on the ground, Tiger Lily sat in handler's lap. Allowed petting of legs, ears, head, neck, back and feet with no issues. Showed minimal interest in a squeaky toy - perked up when she heard the squeaker, but no interest in chasing it and didn't take possession. No interest in tag but would follow handler around the yard with wagging tail. A GSD passed by the play yard on the opposite side of the fence; Tiger Lily showed mild interest with ears perked and alert posture; however, she did not approach the fence or pursue any further interaction with the other dog. Handler and another staff member then attempted a dog meet with Gracie, a medium size female; Tiger Lily sniffed Gracie through the fence, but when a face-to-face meet was attempted, Gracie's energy level and excitement seemed to be too much for Tiger Lily who turned and walked away from her. Did not show any negative reactions, just fearful and avoidant. May retry dog meet with a calmer dog with a milder approach than Gracie. Upon return to kennel, Tiger Lily was initially reluctant to reenter the kennel but followed me in when I stepped in first. Removed leash without issue. 03/03/2025 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Tiger Lily was leashing dodging with wide eyes but calmed down after some sniffs and allowed easy leashing. She came right out once secured. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately HANDLING : In the room, Tiger Lily was exit searching and was very nervous. Another staff member tried to pet her head and she fearfully, with a tucked tail, ran away. She was very anxious and was too focused on leaving to interact with the handlers. When I let her sniff my hand, she quickly lip raised and walked away. She would quickly whip around and hard stare every time we touched her. She did lots of stress painting and pacing. Due to her demeanor at this time, will give her some medication and space.. Pending further eval . PLAY: N/A TOYS: N/A 03/03/2025 medical staff notes: Unable to place microchip during intake due to behavior. Very fearful and snapped randomly when going near her head.
