My Story

Hello, my name is Tonya . . . I am a sweet, playful girl who is 1.5 years old. I'm a Shih Tzu/Pug blend weighing 12 pounds and a resilient, adventurous wiggle-butt who is having a blast with my foster family but is now ready to find my forever home. General Behavior: Tonya is a happy, friendly girl who enjoys playtime as well as snuggle time. Likes & Dislikes: Tonya LOVES other dogs, especially dogs her size, and enjoys chasing and playing with her furry foster brother. She loves toys, too, and will sit for hours with a chew bone just chilling on the sofa. She especially enjoys being near her humans. Training: Tonya is housetrained when let outside on a regular schedule. She has good basic manners but is still working on walking on a leash. She loves car rides. Additional training should be a breeze since Tonya is food-motivated, which lends itself nicely to training. Medical: Tonya is a healthy pup and will just require monthly heartworm and flea prevention, like any other pup. Other Animals: Tonya has experience with smaller dogs of her own size. She would do well in a home with other dogs or as an only dog with opportunities to socialize. She has not been tested with cats in her foster home, but we feel she would be fine with them. Children: Tonya is good with children of all ages! Home: Tonya is young and enjoys active play. She will do well in a single-family home, condo, townhome or apartment as long as she gets plenty of exercise and is kept on a leash when outdoors. She'll need a watchful eye, as she may decide to run out your front (or back) door when visitors arrive. Training her to learn the "place" command when visitors arrive will help, too! Tonya can be left alone in a secure area at home for several hours with no issues. She currently sleeps in her own safe space but will likely enjoy sleeping on or near her human's bed once she settles in with her family. Grooming: Awesome Tonya will need regular brushing and nail trimming. Overall: If you are looking for a playful, affectionate social butterfly who will bring joy to your home and family, Tonya could be the one for you. Are you the one for Tonya? Please visit our website, www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You'll be put in contact with her foster family if it's a potential match. Tonya is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption donation is $475.
