My Story
ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13274
Hi, I'm Trix! My siblings and I were born on 12/16/2023. When I was just 3 days old, my mom, siblings and I were dropped off at an animal shelter in West Virginia. My owners just couldn't take care of us the way they knew we needed to be taken care of. A noisy, cold shelter is not the place for a new mom and babies, so the shelter team contacted OPH to help out. Within just a few days, we were loaded up in a car and a couple of awesome volunteers drove us 6 hours to Manassas, where we had a warm place all ready for us.
Now a little about me:
* My mom is a German Shepherd mix, but we don't know what dad was. Mom is 50lbs (so on the smaller side for a GSD).
* I may be small now, but I will grow fast. Weight is hard to estimate when I am this small, but I will probably be 50-60lbs.
* I will be available to go home with you on February 11th! Click here to see me and my siblings in foster care!
I'm searching for...
* Someone who won't leave me home alone for more than 4 hrs, at least not until I am older. The older I am the more I can stay home alone. I just don't want you to get mad at me if I have accidents or chew things I'm not supposed to when you leave me for too long. I'm a puppy, so I get bored quick and when I'm bored I could get in trouble.
* I need someone who knows how important it is that I don't go to public places until I have all my shots. I will only have 2 of my required 3 shots when I go home. So since I am not fully vaccinated yet, I could get sick. My foster mom will explain in more detail if you choose me.
* I am looking for my forever home, not my for right now home. So as I get bigger I need someone to teach me how to be the best dog I can be. My mommy has taught me a lot, but I am young and still learning. You may want to teach me some new tricks like sit, stay, etc. My foster mom says professional training will help me bond with you. That sounds like fun!
* I saved the most important for last. I am hoping my new mom or dad will snuggle with me, play with me and love me forever and ever!

Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. (OPH) rescues dogs and cats of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters in NC, VA, MD, and SC, reducing the numbers being euthanized. With limited resources, the shelters are forced to put down 50-90% of the animals that come in the front door. OPH provides pet adoption services to families located in VA, DC, MD, PA and neighboring states. OPH is a 501(c)(3) organization and is 100% donor funded. OPH does not operate a shelter or have a physical location. We rely on foster families who open their homes to give love and attention to each pet before finding a forever home. All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
