My Story

Meet Trooper! He is an Anatolian Shepherd mx, 3-4 years old, and 65-70 pounds of teddy bear attitude. Trooper is utd on vaccines, microchipped, and will be neutered on 9/16. Trooper is all the good things! He is house trained, non-destructive (we haven’t even seen him chew on a toy), calm, quiet and SUPER gentle. He will tolerate a kennel but prefers to sleep on a dog bed on the floor, and he would love a big back yard with a fence. He walks great on a leash and loves to explore new places, smell new smells and meet new people. He’s friendly with other dogs, and we don’t think he would hurt a flea. He’s not food aggressive, and will sit in a line with other dogs to wait for treats, which he’ll catch out of the air, or take from your hand ever so gently! He’s very smart too! He learned to sit in about 20 minutes and lay down in 30. We think Trooper would make a great companion or even a therapy dog. Trooper is heart worm positive but is doing well with his slow kill treatment, and the second treatment in 6 months it is covered in his adoption fee. We have noticed a slight fear reaction of cowering and running away if you move your hands over his head too quickly, or throw a fetch toy, but that seems to be improving dramatically as he gains trust in his people and confidence in his surroundings. Trooper’s adoption fee is $165. If you think Trooper would be a great fit for you, please submit your application. Applications are found under the How to Adopt menu on our website at www.myhappytail.org.
