Tubby

Behavioral cases are never easy (and Tubby is no exception to the rule) but seeing the incredible progress she has made with @canineschoolofbehavior reminds us why dogs like her deserve a chance. Tubby is a 2-year-old English bulldog who is the absolute sweetest with people. But upon taking her in, we realized she was severely dog reactive - unable to be in eye or earshot of another dog without completely losing it. Our facility must have felt like her worst nightmare with over a dozen dogs in her vicinity, and we unfortunately discovered very quickly how risky it was for her to stay there in such a reactive state. Thankfully, her foster, Emmy, agreed to take her in and quite literally gave her another chance at life. To be fully transparent, we could not have handled this case without her. They have created a special bond and Emmy has been her biggest cheerleader. We recently sent Tubby to our incredible friends over at Canine School of Behavior for a board and train and she graduated last week. We are so grateful for the trainers there - they have a way of showing the light at the end of the tunnel even with the really tough cases. We were given extremely realistic expectations for her progress. Tubby will never be a good fit for someone with another dog but she can now enjoy being out and about without a muzzle and walk by other dogs on leash without flinching. (See videos!)
