My Story
**Fostered in Arlington, VA**
I am Tyson the boxer, but my foster family calls me Spicy Ticey, because I add the spice life needs. If you have met a boxer before, you will already know a lot about me. I love to wrestle and play with my hands. It is very much fun to share toys, have zoomies, and tumble around with my puppy friends. I am happy, loyal, and a big cuddle bug. Another boxer owner found me wandering around the streets of Texas, and I had not been being taken care of. I came all the way up to Virginia to find my forever family.
I love, love, love the dogs and kids in my foster family but they say that I'm dog selective with outsiders. I need proper intros and could use a trainer to help me overcome my fears. You see, living on the streets of Texas, stray dogs would attack me. I have a big scar on my neck to prove it. So, I always feel like I need to be ready to protect myself. I know I can have friends and I love friends. Will you help me overcome my fears? My new humans must agree to have a CPDT, force-free, harm-free trainer work with me, so I can be the goodest boy there is. If you live in or near Montgomery County, MD, they already have one for me and my first 4 classes will be paid for by the rescue!
I also have anxiety when my family leaves and I would much prefer someone who is at home most of the time. But I’m a really good boy so let me tell you more about me…
Some of my special talents are:
-Standing up on my hind legs to give you hugs or slow dance with you
-Always finding a space on your lap to cuddle, even if you think there is not enough space
-Going potty outside,
Some areas where I’m still growing are:
-I’m gentle on a walk, until we see another dog or critter because I want to meet them including plastic bags, but sometimes I need time to trust another dog… I need someone who will help redirect me when I’m on a leash and try to meet a potential new buddy.
-Staying in a crate. I do not like it in there! I recently got a new crate that I'm slowly learning isn't so scary
If you love happy, silly, big snuggle bugs, you are going to think I’m the best dog ever. Let’s have a visit!
