Vernon

Meet Vernon! Vernon is 11 months old and we're told he is German Shepherd/Labrador mix. Vernon was surrendered because his family's landlord said they could no longer keep him. He lived with another dog and would likely enjoy a companion/play mate in his new home! He was also raised around children and does very well around them. True to GSD form, Vernon is protective and loyal. He will alert bark any time he sees new people, and sometimes has a pinch of 'stranger danger' when he first meets new people. He seems to recover quickly, but his new family should help work with him on building confidence and making sure strangers don't force contact with him if he feels unsure. Remember, be on your dog's team! Vernon is house broken and, while he doesn't love being in a crate, he is conditioned to one. He rides well in the car as well! Vernon's ideal family would be one who has knowledge of the breed and some of the traits that come along with it. Because he's still a puppy, things like getting into the garbage or getting jumpy when he gets excited can all be curbed by continued training. He's very smart and wants to please his people! Vernon is playful and silly, so daily play time and walking will be a great way to keep his body in tip-top shape! He's a very sweet guy who's a sensitive, big ol' baby and he's ready to settle into a new home of his own! Vernon is fully vaccinated and will be neutered prior to adoption.
