Meet Violet, a perfect pocket Pittie in search of her forever person. This beautiful girl is a favorite of her foster mom, and considering that she has fostered 200+ dogs over the past 18 years, that is really saying something!
Violet is a super sweet girl, about 3 years old and weighing in at 45-ish pounds, who loves walks, cuddles, and hanging out with her person. She is a "smiler", and her whole body wiggles when she is happy. She is a gorgeous deep red color, and a petite but athletic 45 pounds.
Violet is good with other dogs, and seems to adapt to their energy level - she plays with her (young) foster sister, and is respectful of the senior dogs in the home. She is great with cats, and currently lives with 3.
Violet has a medium energy level - she is always up for a walk, but also loves to "Netflix and chill." She likes to check in regularly, but isn't a velcro dog.
She is crate trained, but is very well behaved in the house and does not have to be crated anymore when left alone at her foster home. Violet has great leash manners, and is reliably house trained.
Violet was brought to a public Louisiana shelter as a terrified, pregnant stray during a late winter cold snap. She had 4 puppies while in an outside kennel at the shelter, and was a great mom, but unfortunately none of the pups made it. When she was pulled by a local rescue, she was emaciated and in very poor condition. It was obvious that her interactions with humans had not been positive ones, and she was reluctant to trust people. With time, Violet slowly came out of her shell, and she is now a joyful and playful dog. She can still be shy with new people, which she shows by simply avoiding them. The right home will appreciate her kind, loyal heart while continuing to show her that the world can be a good place. Please email us at

Violet is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention. Upon rescue, Violet did test positive for heartworm, but has been treated and is now heartworm free and ready for adoption!
