Hi, my name is Violet! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Energetic, active, friendly, puppy!
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history, but likely okay with respectful kids of any age. Initial introductions done here at the shelter.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history - will need a proper introduction to ensure everyone gets along. Keep in mind - German shepherds are known to have prey drives.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, pending an initial introduction done here at the shelter. Would do best with a well-socialized dog who can show her the ropes!
-Can do Apartment Living: No, Violet will grow up to be a large German shepherd mix. A home with a yard is preferred.
-Potty Trained: Working on it!
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, a six week puppy course
-Energy Level: High (she's a puppy!)
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a spay
-Additional Information:
Violet is an active young puppy looking for someone who has the time, patience, and experience necessary to help her become a well-rounded adult dog! Violet would do best in a home where someone is present often and able to give her the attention she needs. Violet is a German shepherd mix, which means she's a working dog who's going to be super smart and super energetic! Her perfect person is someone who is as adventurous as she is and who plans to take her along on lots of outdoor escapades. Prior German shepherd experience is a plus, though it is not required for adoption. We do recommend doing plenty of research if you've never owned a German shepherd or other working breed.
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
