Willow needs a new home. She would likely struggle badly in a shelter environment, so let’s help her family find her a new home.
Per her family in Tipton Iowa:
It is with a broken heart that I post this. We are looking for a new home for Willow.
Unfortunately the rescues in the area are all full. So many pets needing homes. Our current situation is not good long term so needing options soon.
Name: Willow
Age: 7
Breed: Black lab/German short hair mix
Sex: female - spayed
Disposition: she is a cuddle bug and wants to be near people all the time. She cries when left alone. She is afraid of noises especially fireworks, storms and gunfire. She is dominate and needs to be in a home with no other dogs. She gets along fine with our cats.
Training: she is house broke, knows basic commands such as sit, down and here.
Activity level: she has lots of energy. She stays in the house but needs to be able to run to get the energy out. She needs to be in the country or have a large fenced in yard. Currently she runs multiple times a day on 8 acres.
Medical: she is on Proin due to leaking urine when sleeping. She does fine if she stays on the meds. She is up to date on shots and on the Heart Guard/NexGuard combo for heart worm, flea and tick prevention
Current food: ProPlan sensitive skin and stomach
This is breaking our hearts but unfortunately after three very bad fights with our other female we had to decide which one could stay. We have had her for 6 years. Willow is the more loving of the two and younger. Hoping this will make her easier to adopt out. I would love to be able to visit her. She is one of my babies.
This doggy is described as a 'Teacher's Pet'. I've got the whole package - smart, fuzzy, four legs, love to learn and live to please. Go ahead, teach me anything. Sit, stay, balance your checkbook, I can do it all. Keep me entertained and I'll be yours forever. (Externally motivated).

We recommend crate training until you’re confident that your dog is used to his/her new home: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist/dog-behavior/weekend-crate-training
All our dogs have been spayed or neutered or arrangements will be made if currently too young. They will be treated for fleas, bathed, vaccinated against distemper/parvo, treated against general parasites, and if of age, tested for heart worms and vaccinated against rabies. If underage for these things at the time of adoption, they are to be done at the adopter’s cost when the dog becomes of age. They will be microchipped at the time of adoption.
