My Story
Hello, I’m Winifred—but you can call me Winnie, like all my friends do!
At just over 3 years old and weighing 60 pounds, I’ve already mastered the fine art of being the perfect companion. I’m spayed, up-to-date on all my vaccines, and heartworm negative, so I’m healthy and ready to join your family. I’m also fully potty trained and will wait patiently by the door to let you know when it’s time for a trip outside. I adore snuggling on the couch, but I’m just as content relaxing on my dog bed with my favorite toys when you need some space.
I love being part of your adventures, and I’ve been told I’m quite the polite walker on a leash. I know how to sit, heel, and listen like a pro. Car rides? Count me in! I’m a calm and patient passenger, especially when there’s a pup cup waiting for me at the Starbucks drive-thru. And if you need to step out without me, I’ll be a little bummed, but I can settle in my crate and wait for you to come home.
I get along well with other dogs after a slow introduction—we just need a little time to become friends. Cats, though? Let’s just say they’re not my cup of tea.
If you’re looking for a healthy, loyal, and loving companion who’s as ready to explore the world as she is to cuddle up at home, I might just be the perfect match. Let’s start our next adventure together!

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt
**Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).
The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.
2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250
*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
